About the event
Join us for a fun and educational day installing the Mt. Carmel food forest! We will be planting, tending, and learning about some of the amazing edible and ecological plants of our region, including their uses, requirements, and maintenance. We'll learn about all the steps of the process, from how to dig the holes, how to amend the soil, and how to practice needed follow up care such as watering and pruning. This will be a group-oriented co-learning experience featuring discussions and explorations around the topics of horticulture, ecology, and plant lore.
This hands-on workshop focuses on the installation and long-term care of a community food forest in a shared public space. We’ll begin with a brief introduction to agroforestry systems and why food forests are a particularly effective model for integrating food production, ecological restoration, and community gathering.

This ticket includes full participation in the Food Forest Planting & Stewardship Day, including instruction, hands-on planting activities, and participation in the community stewardship and care discussion. Ticket holders will work alongside other participants and community volunteers and are invited to stay for the closing celebration.
