About the event
In this immersive workshop, we’ll look to the land as our teacher. Led by Elyse Jurgen of Waxwing Ecoworks, an experienced ecological designer at the forefront of her field, we’ll begin with a guided hike through native plant communities, learning how species grow together, support one another, and form resilient ecosystems.
We’ll then bring those insights into a hands-on design session, helping you apply this approach to any landscape, including food forests, gardens, or rewilding projects, while building a thoughtful planting plan rooted in relationship.
In Part 1, we laid the groundwork, learning how to read a site, draw to scale, and begin thinking about plants in a design context. In Part 2, we bring that work to life by exploring how plants grow in community and how to design with those relationships. Newcomers are absolutely welcome. This workshop stands strong on its own.
